Funny Text Messages To Clear Away The Blues

By Kerri Turner

Texting has become an everyday part of life and more and more people are realizing that it can be more than a simple form of communication. Using funny text messages to cheer someone up and reach out to them when you otherwise might not be able to is wonderful. It is no longer considered rude to text instead of calling, so use it to your advantage and think of something that will really cheer them up.

When a friend is down in the dumps it can be very difficult to know what you can do to help them. This becomes even harder if you are far away from them and cannot go and visit. If this is the case do not fret. Simply think of a clever and funny message that will cheer them up and remind them that life is not all bad.

When someone is upset it can be very awkward for those around. This results in some people avoiding upsetting situations so that they don't have to deal with the awkwardness. While this isn't ideal, there are some ways to make it a little easier, and express your thoughts in an honest way. Take some time and think up a sensitive text explaining your absence.

This is even more important if your loved one is stuck in a situation that they can't get out of. Being able to sneak a look at your phone and discovering a loving message from someone who genuinely cares is a wonderful feeling. It is like having a secret that no-one else knows about. If you can have that kind of influence on someone else then there is no harm in doing it.

Injecting a little comedy into the situation can work wonders for taking someone's mind off something and making them smile. Find a suitable joke online and send it to that someone special. This will help to remind them that it isn't the end of the world and good things can happen, even when everything seems bleak and dreary.

If you decide to go for situation comedy then remember to be very careful not to upset anyone. What one person might find funny, another person might burst into tears over, so consider the reaction before you hit the send button. If you are able to get that person to see the funny side of whatever is upsetting them then you truly have a talent.

Whatever method you choose, whether it be sympathy or distraction, ensure you are getting the message across that you care. If you do not think through what you are saying then it could come across as uncaring. This is the last thing that you want to do, so always ensure that you are acting in their best interests.

Funny text messages are a great way to fix an argument or cheer someone up, but they need to be timed perfectly. If an apology is needed, then sending a joke is unlikely to make them laugh. Try to be sensitive to their feelings and only use humor if it is appropriate. Not everyone will have the same sense of humor as you.
