Some of the highlights include the important French Quarter, bustling Bourbon Street and naturally the savory standard cuisine. Thanks to a mixing pot of cultures the town boasts several engaging museums to help visitors better understand the art, heritage and local history. Here are simply a few of the top New Orleans museums.

Louisiana Children's Museum

While much of New Orleans appeals basically to adults there's still plenty to enlighten and entertain younger kids too. The Louisiana Children's Museum is among the best New Orleans museums for families and it conveniently found in the Central Business District just a short walk from the French Quarter. Exhibits go from topics like the human body and basic machinery to local subjects like the history of New Orleans or knowing how a port operates in coastal towns.
