Tips In Writing A Good Sci Fi Horror Novel Review

By Estelle Larsen

If everyone is interested in becoming a book review author, then you should consider the best genre you can write about. The most difficult yet interesting genre that one can take on when reviewing is sci fi horror. If you want to write a review for this particular genre, then here are a few tips that you should be able to take advantage of.

First, you should provide a synopsis of your review. This means that you have to get the readers acquainted with the basic plot where the story revolves. Do not just copy the teaser of the book, though. You have to make your own. It can be a bit refreshing for those readers who are looking for a good book to enjoy to read on your own synopsis.

When writing the review, decide what is okay to reveal and what is not. Avoid spoiling the excitement for your readers by giving away the book's ending. You have to be careful that you do not end up divulging all details that will make every reader excited when reading the book.

The key characters, as the name suggests, are keys to the book. Thus, you got to pay attention to them. Make sure to give them a thorough run down, especially on what role they play. Break into their motivations, their importance to this story, and even their unique quirks. Mention their connection to each other too.

Analyze the importance of the book. Point out what the book says about the society in general. If it points out human conditions, then try to break it down for your readers. Most of the books being published these days have at least one or two deeper meaning hidden in them. If not the deeper meaning, then you can use its entertainment value in its place.

Balance things out when you are writing the review. You should not be overly negative because others might just see that as bashing. Avoid being overly positive too because the readers might think of it as a bias toward the author of the book. Maintain your balance.

Questions are highly appreciated. You should learn to ask and use questions to add a zest of fun into one's reviews. You can use the questions to get into those things that are nagging the readers at the back of their mind. If you point them out properly, then that would make your reviews more fun.

Links are important so give a few for the readers to click on. These links are places where the readers can get more information about the book. It might be a link to the author's website or to a website that sells the said book. Just make sure that the links you include in the reviews are relevant.

Bring in your unique flair. Every writer is unique from the other. A writer has to set himself or herself apart from the others so that he or she can gain a following. If you have a unique flair, then do not hesitate to bring that into your reviews.
