Discovering Alexander Koleszar And His Artwork

By Patty Goff

When one thinks of a master painter with collectible works, one of thinks of masters like Dali, Magritte, Monet and others. Although, there are many artists who draw, paint and sketch which are either still living and walking among us, or have works far more recent than these amazing pieces which hang in the most renown museums of the world. Alexander Koleszar is only one of many though he started his career quite early in life.

Koleszar discovered an interest in art at the tender age of 2. At age 11, 30 works were complete, most being beautiful oil paintings on canvass. Not just art made in school either, these were professional oil and canvas paintings which some of his peers and teachers believed were of museum quality.

The painter experienced a personal and professional crisis following this dark period in life. Although, the period also provided a great deal of inspiration for later art. The emotional distress, pain and anguish along with having honed skills in drawing and painting inspired the artist to get back to work. During this time, the artist would often work tirelessly on a number of different projects.

After recuperating from a long illness, and the loss of friends, the painter began working passionately on new works. Many of these works dealing with issues surrounding the AIDs crisis, and the lack of care in the early 1980s before a cure or vaccine could be established. While this is still the case, there are now drugs which can help both HIV and AIDs patients treat, what are often, life debilitating symptoms with various medications and treatments.

One reason Alexander decided to wait on becoming actively involved with collectors was because there was another interest. As the artist always had a love for drawing and classical painting, Koleszar spent a few years learning from and studying with two well known artists. One these artists, a classical painter, and the other a well known sketch artist.

Regardless of this immediate and overwhelming interests, the painter decided to refocus on learning the details of classical painting and drawing techniques. At this point and time, Koleszar left his own inspiration behind and worked with a well known classical painter as well as a well known drawing instructor. Both of which provided the artist with a great deal of knowledge and skill with regards to these alternate art forms.

Although the artist has exhibited art in the past, it was not until these new exhibits that the artist gained ground as "New and Emerging Artist, " which is often the first step to success for artists, poets, writers and others who work in these genres. While it is often easy to enter a piece in contests or shows, acceptance is often fare more difficult. Although, for those who have had any past experience, it can often be a great deal easier as long as one has a piece the judges and jury feel has a chance against other competition.

Current artists may not see the same results as Koleszar when it comes to working with collectors, galleries and museums. Although, the instant collector is a new breed in which many artists with works hanging in coffee shops and restaurants are finding success. These venues provide great opportunities to novice and experienced artists to show work, especially in areas where there are no other options.
