This man is Alexander Koleszar and is known to be one of the best modern painters in the country. Although many people see him as a very successful artist, many do not know the hardships he had to endure before getting there.
Now mister Koleszar grew up in the outside of Detroit which was known as Michigan, a place known for sports, hunting, and all kinds of other rough and tough activities. Now growing up in this environment was not very ideal to him simply because he was a homosexual. Aside from that, he was also a loner and an introvert which made him have a hard time getting friends.
While he was growing up, he had kept his being gay a secret from his peers as he feared that he would not get accepted. Because of this, he kept mostly to himself so that no one would find out about his deep dark secret. He also tried to observe how other men acted so that he could copy their actions and know how he should behave.
Probably his only saving grace in this time of confusion was his talent for painting. When he was already a teen, he was already a very skilled painter who had his works showcased in the city hall. The problem here is that his peers did not see painting as a masculine hobby and would always tease him and tell him that he was a disgusting homosexual.
Of course like any closet gay, he denied that he was one so that he would not get shunned. Of course the years went by and his mind struggled even more because his attraction to men became even stronger than before. With this, he decided to tell his family about his problem in hopes that they would help him figure things out for himself.
However, instead of helping out, they made things even worse. They thought that he had a mental disorder so they sent him to psychologists and counsellors. They also thought that maybe he had a hormone problem which is why he was attracted to men. So for this they sent him to a doctor who is specialized in the endocrine system.
Eventually when nothing could be done, his mother told him to change his name and then sent him away from home. From there, he found himself somewhere in Phoenix, Arizona where he would find a good art college wherein he could continue his education. It was also here that he was able to think properly.
From there, he started to live a new life and even went to college at the Arizona State University. It was here that he met a medical student with whom he fell in love with. Through all this, he continued to pursue his passion for painting and was able to come up with sets that appealed to so many people.
