When it comes to art, there are a number of different artists and genres, past and present. As such, when looking for work by a contemporary impressionist artist, it is important to know the details which the masters of impressionism such as Claude Monet and others used in original French Impressionist paintings.

Some well known and respected artists working during the original period include, Frederic Bazille, Marc Chagall, Edgar Degas, Paul Cezanne, Claude Monet and August Renoir. While it can be easy to do so, it is hard to capture the effects of light and shadow. As such, it is often preferable to view the original paintings when and where possible. In many cases, these artists can be seen painting on canvas in gardens, parks or on hills overlooking the ocean. For, these areas often provide a great deal of scenery which can be captured and captivating in paintings.

In many cases, these individuals paint scenes bringing the elements of the scenery to light. Whether using lighting associated with scenery, or adding light for a special effect, contemporary impressionists are good at doing so. For, by using light brush strokes, subtle colors, light and shadow, many current paintings resemble those of the masters. While the art form first emerged in France, there were others working in Italy and the United States. While this is the case, it was the French Impressionists whom developed the techniques which are still used by contemporaries. Basically, an art form that uses the play of light in different compositions and poses with varying colors which attribute to the feel of immediacy and movement.

In the case of the early French Impressionists, there were many critics who disapproved of the style. Whereas, there were others whom believed the style captured originality and vision. It is now up to the contemporaries of these original artists to inspire future generations by creating new masterpieces, using the techniques of the French Impressionist Masters.
