Knowing The Talented Emmy Award Winner Rick Overton

American television has since been graced with talents that have made it a much colorful venue and melting pot for such personalities. Many people may have secured their breaks, but were not able to sustain their streaks. There are some that have managed to shine through with sheer perseverance and talent. Among these people is Emmy Award Winner Rick Overton.

Mr. Overton is mainly known as a script writer. He has shown such talent in this field as is depicted by the awards and recognitions that he was able to receive from the show that he was able to pen. However, he is also an actor. He was able to appear in several firms and other video materials before. In addition, he is also an effective comedian- this was something which he's continued from his high school days.

He is quite known for many for several writing credits. To date, the most famous of which is his stint in scriptwriting for the Dennis Miller Live series. This has led to him receiving an award for outstandingly penning the script for the show. His credits acting are often associated with films like The Secret Adventures of Jules Verne and Willow.

Mr. Overton was actually born in Queens in New York, he was born in Forest Hills. He did grow up in Englewood in New Jersey. Nancy Swain, his mother is famous for the personal appearances she and while performing as member of the Chordettes. His father, Hal is one who happen to hail from a known musical family. He is a band arranger specifically for the Thelonious Monks. Also, he works as a music teacher in the renowned Julliard Institute.

His first onscreen appearance was in 1982 for the Young Doctors in Love film. This was followed by a small role which he played for Airplane II: The Sequel. He then penned New Adventures of Beans Baxter back in 1987. While doing so, he was also appearing on television shows and films that include Willow, Million Dollar Mystery, and Amazing Stories among others.

The music industry is something that he has dabbled in as well. He actually plays the harmonica occasionally along with local blues band. He has started his stand-up career though while he was still in high school. He used to be one half of the Overton and Sullivan comedy team. It was in 1970s when he successfully broke in at the New York Improvisation that he decided to actually go solo.

In 1997, he got a nod of an Emmy nomination for his script writing work for Dennis Miller Live. He already won the same award for the same category as well as the same show the year before. He was also able to get the nod from the panel of judge on the Writers Guild of America and secured a nomination for the same show. This time, it is for the category in Comedy/Variety (Including Talk) Category. Hence, his reputation as a scriptwriter was firmly cemented.

He is also a motorcyclist. He has been for the last 20 years. He can be seen performing many charity rides. One the most notable ones is the Love Ride. This is a charity event aimed for the celebration of the annual Muscular Atrophy. He does model budding using his own designs as a hobby and he as even won awards at certain sci-fi conventions.
