Finding The Right Abstract Watercolor Painting For Your House

By Jerri Perry

When it comes to choosing art pieces for your home finding the right ones can be a challenge if you don't know what to look out for. Choosing an abstract watercolor painting to go with the rest of you decor is a great idea as long as you choose the right one. There are several different factors to consider when it comes to finding a painting that will suit your home.

To start with you will need to consider the colors that you want to be used. These should go well with the rest of your decor and not clash with it. This is something that you want to stand out as the centerpiece of the room not as an eyesore. They don't necessarily need to match the colors that you already have in use but they should go well with them.

There designs can also range greatly from one to the next. Some have very details designs where the artists message is screaming at you from the canvas and you can almost tell exactly what they were trying to convey. Then there are others that are so simplistic and abstract that you may see something different every time you look at it and still have no idea what you are looking at.

Finding the right one to go with the theme of your home is what it all comes down to. As long as it feels right to you it will work. If you know what you want before you get into it then you will be sure to get what you want coming out of it. Decide on a color plan and the amount of design that you want so that you have the basic concept of what you want.

The best way to go about getting your artwork is to purchase it directly from the artist. Finding local artists in you area is as easy as heading down to some local galleries and seeing what they have to offer. Alternatively many will have their own websites that you can go and checkout to see what is available.

Searching online is another great way of finding some real gems that you may have not been exposed to otherwise. Most artists have their portfolios available on their websites so you can literally search through thousands of paintings from the comfort of your own home. This gives you many more options than you would have had otherwise and greatly increases your chances of finding the right one for you.

Used furniture shops and thrift stores are always loaded with tons of stuff that no one wants. Sometimes, though, you may just hit the jackpot, and find the perfect piece for your home. The benefit of this is that the costs will be significantly lower than searching galleries and the internet and purchasing directly from the artists.

Get a feel for it in your home before making the final decision. You may want to carry a photo of the space where you intend to hang the abstract watercolor painting in, with you as a reference. If you do get it home and decide that it is not right then you may be able to exchange it for one that is.
