Unwritten Rules For The Cycling Events

By Janelle Burnett

There are several rules that one will have to follow when he is attending the Michigan cycling events. It is a must for him to follow these rules, even when they are not explicitly told to the participants just for the sake of showing his respect to the other cyclists. Here are some of the unwritten rules that he must follow as a cyclist.

First up, he has to get a suitable helmet for it. There are some people who dislikes wearing a helmet since they think that it is lame. However, this is the best way for him to avoid getting any concussions and injuries to his head when he gets into an accident while on the road.

It is also a given for the cyclist to take charge in shaving his own legs. It is a must for the cyclist to shave his legs. It might be due to aerodynamics or any other similar reasons. However, know that shaving his legs is important because this will allow him to look neat while riding his bicycle.

Pay attention to the kit. This means to say that he has to find the right jersey that will match his shorts, which in turn will match his arm warmers, which in turn will match his socks. However, make sure that his jersey is not a replica of any pro team kit unless he has earned his right to don it.

It is fine for him to bring his iPod when he is riding his bicycle. It is a good idea since one can keep his calm and motivation when he has an on-board music system. He can wear it while he is riding the course assigned to him. However, remember that there are some rules when wearing the iPod.

Make sure that he does not use his iPod when he is riding in a group. There is nothing that will make him be disliked by the other cyclists than wearing iPod. This will only give off a message that he is not going to care about his own safety much less the safety of others. This will just complicate the entire journey.

There are etiquette for riding in group rides too. He should consider the distance between the riders in front of him and on his side. For the rider in front of him, keep a distance of six inches between his front wheel and the other's rear wheel. For the sides, make sure that there is just one on his side. Only receive instructions from the rider in the front of this pack.

He should know when to use carbon wheels and when not to. The carbon wheels are meant for racing. They should not be used when the person is going for training rides. The wheels one should use for the training should be heavy and strong, pitted with lots and lots of spokes.

He might want to bring ornaments and accessories. This is actually a good thing but he should make sure to follow the guidelines. If he does not follow the right guidelines for the said matter, he might not get a good experience out of the popular Michigan cycling events.
