Reaping The Benefits Of Arts Effect On Society

By Camille Nicholson

For centuries, experts have debated the extent of arts effect on society. There is no doubt that painters, choreographers film makers, and even television producers want to spark reactions in their audiences. At issue though is whether people's feelings about spirituality, nature or violence are in fact altered when they are exposed to art.

What's certain is that you can reap significant profits if you are able to predict the way that today's artistic trends will affect the popularity of consumer items in the near future. To do this properly, you must have a fine eye for details. You must also be willing to invest your time in doing considerable research.

This is probably seen more often in the realm of fashion than anywhere else. Think of the top films and TV projects that millions of people watch faithfully all over the world. Now, compare what you have seen on the screen to what is displayed on the catwalk by the trend-setting designers, and you'll see many common factors.

When a big science fiction film comes out, you can expect fashion to adopt a futuristic flair, complete with metallic materials. On the other hand, when the top TV shows are focused on the lives of the upper classes, you are more likely to see stores carrying billowy dresses with high necklines. The profit comes from mass marketing of copies of the original designs, as the cost of buying designer outfits is prohibitive for most people.

The effects can also be seen at the cosmetics counter. Quite often, the changes in women's make-up styles depend on the look being sported by pop culture heroines. When the star of a top movie has a natural look, then sales of pale pink lipstick go up and earth tones for the eyes become prominent.

Another field that has seen increased profits as a result of artistic trends is ballroom dance. To the delight of dance teachers everywhere, audiences have been dazzled by televisions programs showcasing romantic moves. Students are willing to plunk down their hard-earned money to learn how to rumba with the professionals.

The arts have also paved the way to recovery from substance abuse for many people. That's because so many pop culture artists have stepped forward to share that they have a problem. As a result, it has become easier for others from every walk of life to admit that they have addictions, too. Their admission is the first step in recovering, and fortunately, the number of treatment centers has grown to help meet the increased demand.

Of course, not everyone is in a position to profit monetarily from arts effect on society. But you have no doubt experienced many personal benefits from witnessing the items produced by artists over the years. If you're like most people, there have been instances where classical music calmed you and helped in dealing with the stress that life throws our way. You may also have been wonder struck by the sheer magnificence of a fabulous sculpture that reinforces our joy in being alive.
