Why Enhancing Memory Requires Use Of Rehearsal Strategies

Teaching is indeed one of the oldest professions in the world. Different teachers have different approaches that they use in teaching. Even though they prefer to physically interact with their students in classrooms, some use technology to teach the same information. They include online platforms and live video conferences. No matter which method works for you, it is important to instill knowledge in students at the end of it all. In fact, most teachers prefer to use rehearsal strategies as their method for teaching.

Once you have introduced a new concept, it does not end there. You need to repeat it aloud so that they can hear you. You can draft a list or a diagram that will be easy to grasp. That way, you can also sub vocalize so that learners can repeat after you. It is highly unlikely for a student will forget something that they have already memorized. This approach is useful for individuals that want to master their social security or phone numbers.

Attaching a song to a new concept is the best way to go about it. This works for kids in kindergartens whenever they are taught to master the alphabets. Instead of reading it aloud, they are asked to sing. In other cases, involving body movements and gestures can also work for your benefit.

Different learners have different approaches for learning. For instance, if someone asks you for the last four digits of your phone or social security number, you will be forced to connect the first ones to it. This is simply because that is the only sequence you are depending on to boost your mastering skills. In addition, some may prefer to learn in quiet or a place with music to buffer their memories.

As a student, it is normal for you to forget everything you have just been taught in a second. When this occurs, you need to practice on your mastering skills. This can only be achieved through continuous practice. Thereafter, you can conduct a review on everything you have learnt.

There is a fine line between understanding and remembering. Each subject uses specific methodologies. Therefore, understanding certain subjects will work for your benefit since examiners have tricky ways of twisting their questions. A student that has crammed the formula may not be in a position to interpret it even after reading it twice.

Short term memory is inevitable in certain students. They need to use certain tricks to install information in their brains. It is important to take notes, highlight and underline the main points to help you in remembering all the details. Once you have done so, it is mandatory for you to summarize what you have understood.

As a tutor, it is your sole responsibility to ensure that all your students digest what you are teaching them. Each student has his/her own method of understanding the concepts. As long as they are going in the right direction and using these methodologies, then you can guide them into becoming better and learned people.
