VHS To DVD Service Can Save The Day

By Shanna McNeil

Over the last thirty years technological advancements have gone through exceptionally fast growth phases. Forms of technologies which were common in the 70s and 80s are basically nonexistent today. The average consumers did not actively keep pace with the changing technologies. Many were unexpectedly left with cassette tapes, record albums, and reel to reel recordings when the world have moved to using mp3s. There had been many people left with video tape recordings also. They were left holding these while DVDs had permeated the market. VHS to DVD service can now be acquired for those remaining in this situation.

There are at a minimum 3 victims of improving technology over the last few decades. They are VHS cameras, video tape recorders, and their owners. Most owners had documented their lives on tape. There are accounts of family reunions, graduations, and weddings. The faces and voices of loved ones that have died are also available.

The lives of many children have been recorded on video tape. From births, the first words, steps, and birthday parties, they can be watched over and over. Many assumed that the recordings would be part of an archive that they could access forever. They could be shared down through generations.

There are opportunities with video taped recordings. The tape itself will not last forever. As a matter of fact the quality of a recording will decrease as the tape ages.

The more tapes are played the higher the opportunities for them to be degraded or broken. The mechanical stress of fast forwarding, winding, and rewinding pulls on the tapes. Moisture in the air can also degrade tapes over a period of time. As many have uncovered, a magnet can be the worst enemy of a tape.

Computer technology has improve to points where storage drives are robust enough to store large caches of data. It is now common having videos kept on hard drives. With the old technology of VCR recorders and players, it is hard if not impossible to bring what is on tape over to computers.

There are pro services available which can convert tapes to DVD form. Once transferred to DVD, home movies can be moved to a hard drive at the owners leisure. Also, DVDs are safe ways to keep information for extended periods of time. They are ideal for backup storage plans.

Professionals can convert videos in a way that optimizes the quality. Something can be seen as sketchy and wavy on tape. Yet it can end up becoming more crisp and clear utilizing professional equipment.

VHS to DVD service is a wise step to make in preserving precious memories. Whether of children, special historical events, or parents, they are very special and are taken from a perspective of the people performing the recordings. During this process the video tape integrity will be maintained. As days pass, the quality of the tape will lessen. The faster the transfers are made the less the opportunity for regrets and heartaches later.
