Nestled in the small county of Ogemaw is Rose City. This is a small town in Michigan, located in the northwestern part of the state. It has scenery out of a story book. Allen S. Rose founded this city in 1875, although he called in Churchill. It was later renamed after him, which is how it got its current name. Allen Rose was originally located in New York City but he moved to Michigan. In 1892 when the railroad started to go through the town, it changed many things. It also would lead to the city being incorporated in 1905.
Most people here hold factory jobs, mainly in the plastics, machinery and auto part fields, but there is still a good percentage of people that work at the small shops throughout the city. The general age of people here is 44.6 and the number of people in the area is around 653.
Located less than three miles from here is a natural recreation Area. This area has many fantastic opportunities for adventure. You can do many things like boating, swimming, fishing, hunting, hiking, canoeing and cross-country skiing. This Recreation Area consists of 4,449 acres of wilderness. Sadly this area used to be nonpublic, but luckily the opportunity to make it public was seized and in 1963 the opportunity for all to enjoy it came true.
How would it be to be totally relaxed, calm, and not have to worry about a thing, even for just a short while? You could be out on a boat or canoe, rowing down the calm river. Letting the sun smile upon your beautiful skin, slightly warming your cheeks. This would be one of the best opportunities you could get to get close to Mother Nature again.
