Knowing Your Options For Finding Affordable Designer Bridesmaid Dresses

By Edward Robinson

When you are planning your wedding, you may realize that you need to stay within a relatively tight budget. You do not have a lot of cash to spend on outfits for your bridal attendants. Still, you want them to look good and also match the gown you have picked out for yourself. Rather than blow a lot of money on gowns that will probably only be worn once, you may want to know where you can find affordable designer bridesmaid dresses for your bridal party.

The first place you might look would be your local bridal shops. These stores often sell gowns for premium prices during the peak of the wedding season each year. However, once the rush dies down, the shops start to put their apparel on sale to bring in business during the off-season. The outfits are sold off the rack at discounted prices you may be able to afford.

These shops tend to run off-season and clearance sales, which can save you even more money. These sales often see gowns marked down to half price or lower than what they originally cost. You might only pay a couple hundred dollars to outfit everyone in your party. These lower costs come with the understanding, however, that the apparel might be in an off-season color and style.

When bridal shops are even out of your budget, the next stop would be to check out what the local consignment shops have to offer. These places take in and sell gently used outfits of all kinds including formal wear. You could walk out with the apparel you need for under a hundred dollars.

The challenge when shopping there, however, is finding outfits all in the same color and style. In reality, you may have to mix and match the various styles and colors just to get a coordinated bridal party look. It is possible that each woman might have to wear a different color and style of gown.

If you are on a really tight budget, you might want to head to your local thrift shop. These stores often have formal wear in stock. Women and girls who no longer want their wedding apparel or prom gowns many times will donate them to stores like these. The apparel will probably only have been worn once and will still be in good condition.

You never know what size you are going to get, however, at these locations. You may have to check out several thrift stores before you find enough gowns to fit all of your bridal attendants. Still, you could spend less than a hundred dollars by shopping at these locations. This idea could particularly be helpful for brides on the tightest of budgets but still want a nice wedding.

With creative shopping, you can make your bridal budget go further while still finding bridesmaid dresses that are affordable. Your choices range from bridal stores to consignment shops. In some instances, you might even check out what the local thrift stores have to sell. You probably will pay a lot less than if you had to custom order them.
